Town of Bartoszyce

A county town in the northern part of the Warmia-Masuria Voivodeship, on the Łyna River, about 12 km from the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast. The town covers 11.79 km² and has 21,314 residents (2024, Wikipedia/Statistics Poland). Bartoszyce is the largest urban centre of Bartoszyce County and serves as its administrative seat.

Mayor (Burmistrz): Wiesław Kurach (term 2024–2029)

Wiesław Kurach was elected mayor in the 2024 local elections, defeating the incumbent mayor Piotr Petrykowski in the second round (56.72% of the vote).

This local government takes part in the shared territorial strategy of the borderland through 2030 and in the CuRI 2026–2027 programme (Eastern Border Regions Catching-up Regions Initiative, European Commission + World Bank).
