Town of Górowo Iławeckie

An urban municipality in the northern part of the Warmia-Masuria Voivodeship, in Bartoszyce County, surrounded on all sides by the rural municipality of Górowo Iławeckie. The town covers 3.32 km² and has 3,627 residents (2024, Wikipedia/Statistics Poland). It serves as the natural service and administrative hub for the surrounding rural areas, located a dozen or so kilometres from the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast.

Jacek Kostka has served as mayor since 2010 — in 2024 he won the election in the first round with 69.5% of the vote (the “Citizens” local electoral committee).

Cooperation within the WMSP

This local government takes part in the shared territorial strategy of the borderland through 2030 and in the CuRI 2026–2027 programme (Eastern Border Regions Catching-up Regions Initiative, European Commission + World Bank).
