Węgorzewo

An urban-rural municipality in Węgorzewo County, located in the Land of the Great Masurian Lakes on Lake Mamry — the second-largest lake in Poland. It covers an area of 341.5 km² and has about 15,213 residents (2024), of whom around 10,000 live in the town of Węgorzewo itself. The town serves as a tourism and sailing centre as well as the administrative capital of the county; its port on the Węgorzewo Canal connects Lake Mamry with the other lakes of the Masurian route.
